hi, this is not my week for trucks i guess. Ive been driving around a 1997 f350 with a 460 in it and it has been getting pretty good mileage for a 460. Today i noticed that i used almost a quarter of a tank going 12 miles and the temperature gauge only gets to the n on normal. Any thoughts?
Depends where in the tank you are... Mine moves quickly from F to 3/4 mark... Also if youre running the rear tank goes it a lot quicker as it is smaller, though not by much, but enough that; I usually use 1/4 of the front tank to go to work... Running on the rear it is nearly half...
Also the sender seems very sensitive. A slight hill is enough to throw it off...
I would not be concerned unless the truck is running bad...
Watching you gas gauge driving a 460 tuck is something you need not stress over... After going from my 4.0 ranger to the 460 I was freaking out for the first while... Now a weekly visit to the gas station is just something I'm used to...
As far as the temp gauge only hitting N, that doesn't surprise me for a 12 mile trip... Mine usually rides right around O normally at full temp... Used to ride just over the R before I replaced the Rad
