400M Timing
Hi im wondering about the timing on my 400M I just rebult the engine with a compcam 284/284 hyd roller and about 10.4:1 compression ratio ... I have the D.U.I. hei stile diztributator curved for my old setup but i was told i do not have to recurve the dizz but i could run more timing ? i set my dizz on 12 degrees before top dead center .... I had the 272 crane flat tappet before and 9.4:1 compression ....

. The higher compression ratio may want less timing and less aggressive curve, but the bigger cam prolly more timing advance and more aggressive curve, so only some experimentation for best power/results will likely give you a correct answer...

. 24 degrees sounds low for total timing (unless using blower/nitrous)... usually more like:
(Fast Burn Heads/High Compression ratio) 30 degrees - 40 degrees (Low compression ratio/open chamber heads) range
. Initial timing plus mechanical/computer advance = 30 - 40 degrees range
