All Early Bronco's (66-77) had 28 spline axles. You can get 31 spline replacements and upgrade along with a carrier change.
Also some of the 4wd pickups from the mid 70s on, as well as the full size Bronco's had optional 31 spline axles.
There are 4 different housings/ axles originally available in the EB.
Five if you count the 77 housing.
Big Bearing, Big Brake 11x 1.75
Small Bearing, small brake 10"
Big Bearing, small brake (Torino ends) 73-74 only
Big Bearing, big brake, 76-77, had wider 2.25" brake shoes
The most sought after is the 77 housing for the larger brakes and the strengthened housing.
