Electric Fan Controller?

Buddy wants yalls opinion on which electric fan controller to get.

Ron francis makes this one but the temp probe isn't a screw in, it is like a wire with a hole in the end that you put a bolt through and tighten down against the engine.... To me this seems like it wouldn't work....

Then there is this one that needs the probe bought separate. Seems high end?

And then there is this?

Can't give any direction on the ones you listed, but this is the one I use to control the low setting on my fan, cheap and gets job done.

Is it not an option to run just relays? I know the thoughts behind running a controller, but I've had great luck running just a temp probe and relays. For the probes, there are a TON of different options as far as size and on/off settings, even ones that will control a high and low speed, if you need.

Maybe it's tacky.

I started out with some generic 70A relays that I wasn't really happy with, but on a scrounging trip to the junk yard, I found a cool little setup out of (I think) a Durango that has a bracket, two relays, and the plugs for them, all weather sealed. Looks like it belongs there and ran one of the two speed Tarus fans for years.

Just another option...

Agreed, I don't see the point in spending money on fancy controllers when a temperature switch and relay do the job. My electric fan setup uses a simple SPST thread-in temperature switch and relay.
