Am I the only one getting pop up ads. Every time I open a new thread I get some kind of little you tube like ad. I thought I paid not to have to get that stuff.
I've been using it for a long time and when I surf on someone else's machine I am always amazed at the amount of spam they put up with.
That is a good solution, but I have found I need to massage it a little as it sometime blocks things you should be seeing and I haven't figured out why. I run Superantispyware in addition to Spybot. They both seem to see slightly different things. What you DON'T want to do is run two antivirus programs at the same time, they will fight each other.
I run Firefox as my browser and my son uses my laptop to play games. Check the add-ons and extensions to your browser. Ad Choice does exactly as you explained and plays a you tube type pop up. I delete the add on and no more ads.
I updated to the latest free edition of Alcohol52 drive emulator just recently. They're very tricky now. If you blindly 'accept' or 'ok' every screen duration installation, it'll install all sorts of crap that's easy to miss. Even after I read the fine print and disabled the options to install the crap, some stupid 'smart-browsing' pop-up was obscuring my screen no matter where I surfed. They snuck that thing in and fortunately I found it buried in the list of installed programs. So I unstalled it and so far so good
