Hi all. Just wanted to pass something on. Woke up today to find some fresh snow on the ground. Didn't want to dig my car out, so I fired up the truck with the remote start, (oem by the way), got dressed and entered a warm truck and went off to work. The gas was low, gauge said I had 20 miles to empty. No problem as I only go 3 miles to work. I would get gas after my morning run. Or so I thought. After the run as I was heading to the terminal, I said, hey I'll use the remote and start the truck, and it'll be nice and toasty when I come out from dropping off the bus keys. I hit the remote and the truck cranks but doesn't start. The horn then blows. Try it again same thing. Oh no. Drop the keys off and head to the truck. I was hoping that the truck wouldn't start because the tank was low and there was a safety switch that wouldn't let it run out of gas, like I have on the generator on my Rv. If the tank is 1/4 or less the generator won't start to keep the Rv from running out of fuel out in no mans land. I thought the truck had this too, but guess not. I tried the key, but no go. Of course there was no one in the lot to get a ride to a gas station. All this on one of the coldest days of the year. I was sitting on a little downhill and thought that if I could coast a little and then turn and try to level a little bit maybe it would start. I did just that and it fired right up. I flew to the gas station about 4 blocks away and filled up. Lesson learned the hard way.
I roam around out of my area at times, looking... at Raptors and other new products. Do you think I am going to drive this Diesel for another 8 years.....
Or you could just get the 5.0 you want now and boost it your self. As I just don't see Ford even considering this as an option at all. But that's just me. And for what it's worth I'd like Ford to do that to the 5.0 myself. That would be bad a**
You should never run any of todays vehicles low on fuel you could cause premature wear to the fuel pump as they are in a sense cooled by the fuel. You could cause them to overheat & hence fail.
