bulbs, but it didn't make much difference, in my opinion.
I decided to add a set of driving lights. After much searching on here and other websites, looking at halogen vs. LED, whether to do a light bar or not, I decided to go with Rigid Dually D2s:
They weren't cheap (a bit over $300), but I was impressed as soon as I opened the box. These are one of those products where you can feel the quality when you hold it in your hand:
Originally I was hoping to be able to mount them behind the XLT Chrome package grille I put on my truck to replace the ugly Lariat one, but there wasn't enough room to make it work. So I decided to mount them in the intercooler opening in the bumper. If you look at this pic, you can see the small hole on the right side is where I drilled to mount that light:
Couple of things, one, that metal is a good 1/8" thick, plenty enough to support the lights, and no, I'm not concerned with blocking off part of the opening, the lights don't block off much more than the metal parts already did. Here they are installed:
And the results. Here are my low-beams with the Phillips bulbs:
High-beams only:
And high-beams with the Duallys:
As you can see, it's quite a difference, and I'm now very happy with my lighting. At this point, I just need to wire them so that they come on with my high beams, and I'll be all set.
i was just looking at a set of these a few days ago. I think i'll have to start saving for some after seeing your pictures. I think i'll be putting mine on my push bar though.

If I had a bar, that's where I would have mounted them, too. Higher is better for these things. But I didn't want to add one unless I really needed to. It's more money, and I personally like the cleaner look of a stock front end. Plus, with some of the bars you lose your tow hooks. But, to each his own and all that.
completely understandable. When installing the push bar it said that the tow hooks could not be reinstalled, but there was more then enough room and plenty of threads on the stock bolts for the new brackets.
Rigid makes nice stuff. I have a 20" E-series bar across the top of my Ranch Hand front end replacement. Incredible light output, and much easier to mount than a "typical" driving light.
Very nice. I put on a lot of miles in the dark and I've been thinking about getting more lights to brighten things up. Seeing this definitely had the wheels spinning.
Has anyone ever thought of putting the lights up by where the hood and windshield meet? (is it called Crowl)
Put the on each corner of the hood. where the hood, windshield, and fender meet.
i found a website (ford raptors parts) outlaw raptor hood light mount.
