Text message alert overtakes backup cam screen
Since my "deleting" messages on my truck doesn't do anything with my phone (Nexus 5), I get this problem every time I start up and go into reverse unless I wait for the alert to pop-up first and ignore it.
This started happening with the latest Sync update and I checked for any new updates, none to be had that I can see. I had it into the dealership yesterday who said they couldn't duplicate the issue although they failed to ask me to demonstrate to them with my own phone. Being I've had trouble with them in the past, that part was partly my own fault for "testing" them on that. I fail to see how a setting in my phone could control the screen behavior like this though, so I don't buy it.
Anybody else ever have an issue like this? With a handful of other problems related to that darn touchscreen, I've just disabled bluetooth syncing likely for good. It's pretty darn terrible.

but you can get all other phone features other than text notification if you want
after your phone is set up go into the settings - text notification and change it to none...
mine is set on speech, so I get the pop up but wonder why I have to hurry and stop focusing on driving in order to find the little "Listen" bar before it goes away in like .5 seconds
The phone part doesn't exactly work the best either, it's marginal for calling out but if somebody calls me, I bet 80% of the time I end up yelling "hello, hello....? can you hear me? hello?" and finally get connected. The other 20% I turn off BT and call them back.
MFT really sacked Ford with this stuff. Too bad, otherwise the truck is great but I wouldn't want another one with this screen. Give me heated seat actual BUTTONS!!!
I can suggest a possible workaround. The system is set to notify you whenever you receive a text message, but I can definitely see how this might be problematic when utilizing the rear view camera. If you'd prefer to keep your text alerts from elbowing their way through, you would need to remove your phone from SYNC as a previously paired device, then vice versa. When creating a new Bluetooth relationship, when your phone asks you if you would like to allow SYNC to access your messages, simply click NO and the "Do not ask me again" check box. This should prevent SYNC from interfacing with the Message Access Profile (MAP) in your phone.
