Lately, when I crank it up, it sound like this. Not every time though. This sounds more like an injector knock. The idle RPM's are very stable when it sounds like this. Very strange indeed.
From the bottom, it sounds like a rod is coming through the oil pan. Sorry for the quickness of the video. I was trying not to smoke up the shop. In the other video, I moved outside and it went back to the usual noise. I wanted to make the video longer but the card was full on the camera and it got cut short.

Have you ran it with the valve covers removed to see if the source is in the valve train? It almost sounds like a flat cam but ive never heard one quite that loud.
Maybe this will be of no help but have you tried unhooking 1 injector at a time and isolating the issue to a specific cylinder? or do you already know which cylinder is bad and are just trying to figure out what is wrong with that one cylinder? Also when you did the spin test it almost seemed like the 'knocking' sound was there then too, but with the different audio setup and being inside the garage maybe it would sound a little different anyway.
If you weren't at the end of the world I would suggest you pull that beetch out and ship it back to Fomoco and demand a replacement, let their engineers figure it out. Hope you find the problem soon and get your truck back into service.
I need the whole kit because the little plastic orifice at the top of the housing is broken. My boss wanted me to remove the broken piece to see if the running improved. I didn't think it would but he insisted. Now the fuel pressure is down to 25psi from 45psi. I can't put the broken pieces back in because the whole thing kinda crumbled.
I found a kit number 3C3Z 9T517 AA that includes the plastic piece but I am not sure if it has the updated spring.
The kit that you posted comes with the housing, the kit I posted does not. They both come with o-rings and the spring, the little brass cup, a small white plastic piece with a very small o ring (I believe this is the part you are talking about), a black piece, new screws. I don't know the technical names for the parts, but either kit has that little part.

How is your project going? Have you figured anything out with it?
