the throttle on my wheeler froze because it's -15 here. I was parked about a foot away when I started it up it jumped forward now I get to pull the front fender and hope like heck I can get it right.
As a fellow Wisconsinite I totally agree, Winter bites. I hate winter.
I tell people if I could invent one thing it would be a time machine. I get in it and go back in time when my German ancestors were standing at the southern tip of Lake Michigan scratching their chins trying to decide whether to go left or right. I'd kick them square in the butt and tell them to left. Why in the world anyone would decide to settle in such a god forsaken part of the country when there is close to 20 million square miles when the temperature rarely gets below 30° I don't know. I've lived here for over 50 years and don't see moving any time soon. I should have moved 26+ years ago before I married a stubborn German farm girl who will never move.
Not only do we have to endure the cold but also the tons of salt, with all added metal eating chemicals, they dump on our roads. The only benefits of living so far north, I thought, is we don't have some of the nasty beasties that live in the warmer climes but I have been told we have some nasty beasts up here just not as many.
BTW, that dent doesn't look too bad. You should be able to take care of it in a weekend. At least it's just a dent, not all rotted out with rust.
my deductible is 2k so not really worth it still kind of bumming
First, who are you insured with? Second, why is your deductible so high? Third, what kind of coverage do you have?
I have all of my vintage vehicles insured with Grundy for pleasure driving and all have $100 Collision and $0 (or $50) Comprehensive deductibles. I pay slightly over $300 in premiums for all three vehicle for the year.
I hate winter too, this could be a start for a new social club. Sorry to see the damage to your fender just thank the good Lord it wasn't your truck throttle that stuck and going though the end of your garage. That would really suck.
Sorry to see the damage to your truck. How bad does the driving get there? The reason I'm asking is that I will be driving down to Rochester next week and taking a little side trip to Caledonia, Wisconsin to pick up the rims I bought from Stu's buddy Jeff. We have to drive because the Mayo can get my wife in now and the train is booked. My buddies up here on the Canadian prairies are saying take 4X4 truck but the VW Golf is comfortable and has snow tires. Any ideas?
I'm about 50 miles north of Caledonia, north of Milwaukee by about 15 miles. The weather can change and get socked with a snow storm but if you drive using your brain you can drive just about anywhere. We have good snow removal equipment in this part of the state and as long as you stay on the main roads it's not usually too much of a problem. If you have driven in snow you should know how to handle it. Up by where Needhelp lives it can get a little hairy at times because that's a more rural area, just stay on the interstate as much as possible and you'll do fine.
