EGT and NOX Sensor...KISS IT PLEASE

KISS IT...as in KEEP IT SIMPLE

Here is a simple request that maybe someone will be kind enough to help educate me.

I can read post after post of EGT Sensor failure that runs on for ever, many times being interjected with comments of "Pull that Crap off and forget about it" Which ain't exactly legal or worth deleting the drivetrain warranty over to me.

What I would like to see is a simple KISS *=(Keep It Simple Stupid) post or reply that gives the stock number of the EGT Sensor and NOX Sensor. A diagram of the exhaust system showing the location of each Sensor and listed by it's name IE: Bank 1 Sensor 1 and so one including the NOX Sensor location. I don't care if the diagram is hand drawn as long as it sticks with the KISS Principal and easy to understand.

Again, please don't clutter up the replies with "Dump It" post, just plain how to replace the sensors, where they are located, and the part numbers.

Is someone wishes to attach the "Error Codes" that would be a plus.

Maybe if it is kept to the basics it could be used as a "Sticky" for future owners to refer to rather than posting the subject over and over again.

Thank you for your assistance,

Probably the best starting point is for you to download the 6.7L Coffee Table book and read pages 77-80 Pictures and description of everything is detailed there.

Here is a photo from that coffee table book. But in cutting and pasting, I loose the arrows that point to each sensor.

EO2SeaBee,
That was the kind of simple diagram I was speaking of. Simple black and white with well defined locations pointed out. I printed a copy and will keep it in the truck along with the list of codes that give the sensor location it directs to being at issue.

Painted Horse,
I will follow your suggestion and download the coffee table book, it looks like it is well illustrated and could be a wealth of information. Do you have a link as to where it can be obtained?

Thank you all for Keeping it Simple for a Simple minded individual.

Umm, I knew I forgot something.
Along with the mini propane torch, just in case I never get to the anti-seize project...

Great post Smoky D, all out of ammo for ya.

Is this the same part on my 2015 6.7L? Any updated advice or is this still an issue?

Yes it is part of the '15s and always a possibility with our trucks. My problem with Ford is that our trucks shut down! No matter where, no matter what you are doing! I carry spare sensors, 13mm wrench, list of codes and a scanner to clear the codes to get the truck moving again after I change them out. You should also get under the truck, while new, and unscrew the sensors and put anti-seize on the threads that will enable you to get them out when/if they fail.

Also, here is another pic of the exhaust diagram. With year model '13 and above, all are the same like the previous years pickup models.

Remember one thing.

On the newer trucks cab and chassis the EGT #'s in the same sequence now. That changed in Model year 13 I believe.

Another thing. On my 2015 there is a sensor aft of the rear axle right at the top of the exhaust pipe. This is new.

It irritates me to find it because I wanted to install the AFE DPF-back pipe I had on my 2011 truck. I started to gear up to do the install and saw that dang sensor and proceeded to give the pipe away..........

I believe I remember Vloney saying that is a particulate sensor new for '15. Perhaps you could get the same pipe with a bung for the sensor.

Thanks Doug. I will likely get a new pipe some day. They're stupid expensive for what they are so I'm not in a hurry to buy one right now. The only reason I want one is to quiet that dang blow dryer sound.....
