Tire Pressure Warning

My 2010 Premier Mountaineer apparently has pressure sensors, because i am getting a warning on the dash. They were down about 4 lbs all the way around, so I topped em off. But, the warning still comes back.

Ideas?

Some TPMS systems also monitor the spare. Is your spare low??

I have a 04 Aviator and have the same problem.
There is a way to wake a glitched sensor up by waving a strong magnet over each valve stem sensor (tire pressure sensor location) and lightly rapping on the rim with something that wont damage the rim surface.
I have a great Ford dealership here and one of the techs said to try this before bringing it in.
My Aviator stays in the garage a lot, so I tried it. Problem did go away for about a month, but problem came back.
Tech said he'd scan my vehicle on Saturday for free as long as they aren't too swamped. I know this isn't going to be cheap, so I have been using my reset button a lot when I drive it, but it is a nuisance. My spare does not have a pressure sensor....

Any way to disconnect the messaging? I can monitor my own tire pressure I think.

Is the warning light staying on or is it flashing? My 07' Freestar tire light stays on for a low tire, if it flashes it means there's a bad sensor.

I asked the Ford Tech about this and he said you can't bypass or disable the system.
TPMS is a separate system with its own built in self-test capability.
I'll fix it after taxes are filed.
Yes, I always check my tires myself because I wont assume the system can guarantee my safety or my family's safety.
Let us know if you come up with a good fix, cheap or not...

I believe the Lincolns have a text message along with the flashing yellow indicator.
I get both, but they instantly go away after I hit the reset button.
I'll let my buddy at the ford dealer scan the system and let everyone know what I find out.

Also be aware that the system does not automatically update tire locations. So if TPMS sensor were programmed to a location, then rotated sometime later the wheels were rotated, the scan tool will still display the locations where the wheel was originally programmed. Therefore, if they scan tool says it's the right front tire pressure that is low, be prepared that that may not the be actual tire that is low on pressure.

I had my friend at the Ford dealer help me scan my 04' Aviator; we tried to relearn the sensors twice, but I have two out of the four pressure sensors that will not work.
Tech says there is a battery in each sensor, but you cant access the battery to replace it without destroying the sensor. Even with a discount each sensor is $78.40 each.
But if you go to the website CARiD.com - Car Accessories & Parts they are only $50.00 each including shipping.
Im going to save sixty bucks and order them from carid.com
Relearn the system by:
1) cycle key power on/off three times; and step on brake once with the key on--Do this 3 times and the horn will chirp twice telling you the system went into Re-learn mode.
2) Then place a round magnet that has a hole in it that will let magnet slide all the way over each valve stem.
3) The horn will chirp once letting you know the ECU read the sensor then you go to the next sensor until all four are relearned.
4) System indicators should stay off after system is relearned.

Hope that helps the Explorer/Mountaineer/ Aviator owners!!

^ this. Do the relearn mode, if you have a sensor that won't relearn, it's bad. Check ebay. There are quite a few people selling used sensors guranteed to work and they are cheap. I used to go through a lot of sensors offroad so I got the ebay ones with no problems. Toss a sensor in and relearn again. Good tip with used sensors: Before installing it just set it on the tire, relearn, use the replacement sensor and make sure it works before you go through the trouble of installing it.
