Time has come to replace my tires as the fronts are absolutely shot. Might need to look at steering components as the wear is uneven on the outside edges. Anyways. When looking at tires at a local shop you have these varieties. Mind you this is a dually.
Cheaper to more expensive tire
Kelly Safari ATR - $157.98
BF Goodrich Rugged Trail - $184.98 (stock tire)
Bf Goodrich All Terrains (or any other high end all terrain) - $209.98
I'm no off highway trail king, I do drive off road with a trailer or just loaded in the spring/summer/fall. I do deal with snow every winter but don't drive the truck often. is it worth waiting to get the money together for the better tire? Is $300 more worth it?
I found over the years that more $$$ doesn't equate to better tire. Except for Michelins...then they are worth every penny. they just don't look as cool
how does Tirerack.com spec out those tires against each other?
"Worth it" is relative...one man's dollar, is another man's fortune. Not trying to be negative or degrading in any way. But I don't know your situation, nor do I really need to know.
But, I have put BFG A/T's on our last 4 4x4's in a row. 2 Jeeps, 4Runner, my old Dodge Powerwagon (2 sets), and my new SD. I've been very happy with them in about any way that you can measure a tire. For me personally, I wouldn't consider anything else.
That doesn't mean it's the best tire for your needs... it just means it fits my needs perfectly.
I've tried a bunch of different tires over the years. I've had at least one 4x4 probably most of my life. I can't think of another tire that's been as good or better in as many or more conditions.
And if that $209 price includes mount and balance, that's a good price (assuming they're E rated and "KO"s).

I'll need to look more. I've had BFG AT KO's on another truck. Front ate them by that's the TTB front end.
I tend to go to Tire Rack and read the ratings and do a comparison in the reviews. I don't run off road and went with Michelins after doing the comparisons. May want to take a look at the models you are interested in just gather more information.
On my '08', I tried the BFG AT KO's and to be honest they just didn't help at all and didn't last like when I had on my other trucks. I went back to the OEMs BF Goodrich Rugged Trail, they last long and wear great and traction hasn't been a problem. There is 245K on the truck now.
But with all the tires I've had on my trucks through the years the BFG AT KO's have always been my favorite.
Also those three tires were just examples. I just need load capacity, long life (as best it can be), and something holding up to loading and towing. The AT/KO's definitely look great. The price difference between those and the rugged terrain isn't much.
The Michelin LTX M/S2 have a 70,000 mile warranty..... And the LTX A/T2 have a 60,000 mile warranty. Not sure what these warranties entail, but that seems quite the warranty.
