steering gear oil
Can you use a multigrade oil 85w140 that is gl4 and gl5? I was looking for a gl4 in a straight 90weight but can't find it locally yet.

My concern really revolves around a note I found that said gl5 will eat yellow metal (worm gear)

I think you'll find the worm gear is steel.
Yellow metal usually refers to copper, brass such as synchronizers, thrust washers, etc.

The sulfur compounds that eat yellow metal only do so at high temperatures anyway, like a heavily loaded transmission gearbox.
