100% after Flushing

50/50 top off

the cooling system Holds about 50% water even with all drains Open so it takes 100% to get to Spec about 3.5gallons Full strength

generally, you want the FINAL concentration to be 50%, since the block retains nearly 50% of it's capacity during a flush with water, you want to BUY 100% STRENGTH coolant, so when you add it to fill it up you have close to a 50/50 mixture.

CAT EC-1 and Rotella ELC are much cheaper, about $15 a gallon.

Find the EC-1 at a Caterpillar dealer and Rotella at a truck dealer or oil distributor.

I've been paying about 23 at the local cat dealer. It's been hit n miss getting it at ih or freightliner. They carry lots of 50/50, I'm putting in a rad tomorrow n was looking for a cheaper alternative. The guy already paid for a total flush n switch to cat,, then his y pipe broke n he went to the closest shop n they topped it off with green!!! He's scared to put another hundred in coolant, I understand his position,, but it's gonna be a cold day n heck that i put green in. I'm gonna see if I can find the rotella ELC. If I can't find anything cheaper than 15,, I'm just gonna do cat.

I just don't understand why that freakin shop just contaminated the coolant with green without any reguard to,,, Well,,, Anything.

I know I form an opinion about any shop that sends a 6l out with green. Freakin morons!!!

Is that an actual CAT dealer or a smaller retail, rental place? At least here the rental places charge a lot more for product than a main CAT dealer.

Another option is the Zerex ZRX ZXED1 100% at Napa for $14.79 http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...ED1_0006409566

EDIT....It's the correct stuff, but they have the wrong pic on their website. (See pics of the containers I bought from Napa below)

It is CAT EC-1 rated
