Anti siphon gas tank?

So I own a 1996 Aerostar extended van. I usually park in my garage for the winter and we use the wifes Subaru to get around. Two wheel drive does not do it where I live. Anyway, since I am rural, this year I decided it would be smart to park it full of gas in the garage and then I could siphon off the gas if I needed it for my ATV(my snow plow) or in an emergency to keep my generator gassed up if we loose power for an extended period. So, just as a precaution I tried to siphon off some gas the other day but it seemed that the tube that I inserted got jammed or stopped on it's way to the bottom of the tank and I was not able to ever get it to work. Anyone?? have any idea what is going on??? Would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

Probably not anti-siphon design, but more likely just the bends in the filler neck and tube, and possibly baffles in the tank. The tube ends up near the top-rear of the tank, and if you actually get the siphon hose to that point, you still have to make a couple more turns to get it to submerge into the fuel. I don't know if there are baffles around the filler tube to prevent that.

I had to siphon the fuel out of the tank in my Mustang, which was heavily baffled, so it was not possibly to reach the fuel with a regular hose. I ended up using a very tiny tube, maybe 1/4" ID, or about 3/8" OD, that I was able to reach the fuel. It took a long time to drain the tank that way, but if you just want to suck out a quart for your lawn mower or leaf blower, it shouldn't be too bad.

I was able to siphone from a 96 model. I did use a rather rigid plastic tube aprox 3/8inch diameter. It did not bend much as I put it in. A garden hose isnt going to work.
