Repro part sillyness

So I got the DC washer bottle for my 69. The hole in the bottom is too small for the grommet and pump. You'd think a $25 milk jug could at least get the most important dimension right. At least it's too small and not the other way around.

I'm surprised at the JUNK half these repro parts are anymore from all my purchases non of it got my approval of satisfaction from multiple vendors atleast you should be able to make it work

I was able to save my OEM '70 reservoir (epoxy repair on the back side) and noted that the pump grommet was REALLY tight - probably so there is little chance of leaking. That prompted me to leave it all assembled and clean it through the fill hole.

I'm not surprised at all. There have been many posts on other forums also about the quality of DC stuff going to hell as they have more and more parts done off shore..

Mine was shattered. Complete toast. It was so brittle it disintegrated to the touch. The problem with the new one is probably as simple as 'Copy this' without an inspection criteria.

I have one I fitted to my. '68. I had to remove when I put on power steering. It doesn't leak and is sitting in my shop floor at the moment.

Well, the next step in the step bit did the trick, but I destroyed the original grommet because, well, it's 45yo and isn't pliable anymore. Kind of sounds like me. PM me with shipping to 27529. I'll still look for a replacement grommet. Has to be a market for it. I'd hate to buy the $40 pump when mine still works just for the $0.60 grommet. It's a racket I tell you. And on top of that, the fuel pump bowl I got from DC is the wrong size. And he only offers one. Must be for a six or something. If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have none at all. Did find the Airtex filter/bowl set on RockAuto for $8.28. P/N FL73.

hey Rasputin if my memory serves me correct I think I got my washer bottle from dc about 18 months ago both my bottle and pump were toast the pump still worked but was leaking everywhere I could not find the right pump till I looked at lmc trucks the pump they had looked a dead ringer for my old one so I ordered it guess what bingo fitted like a glove the cost did not worry me because it worked and looked like the original setup just my two cents worth. good luck with your truck

I have a propensity for the 'one year only' in just about every vehicle I've ever owned. Even my 86 Toyota PU. Surprised I didn't end up in a 67 this time, but a 69 is mostly a 68-69 venture. Boned again! Thanks for trying. I'm going to call DC Monday to see if they still have that grommet, and what the ransom is for it.
