When I push the switch absolutely nothing happens.
Now If the switch is in the on position and I move the multifunction switch. Niether the right or left turn signals will work. I hope you understand what I'm saying.
Both turn signal lamps should light up & flash when the emergency flasher switch is turned on, unless B+ feed to the multifunction switch is open circuit, or both indicator lamps are burned out, or their ground connection is corrupt. Since you say the outside lamps flash ok, then I'd look for burned out lamps, or a corrupt ground connection.
Were both dash turn signal indicator lamps working Before you replaced the flasher???
I'm almost certain, that both left and right turn signals were working. Then I think neither worked and i replaced the flasher. Now both turn signals work. But the dash indicator bulb is burned out for the left turn signal. One question, is the hazard button part of that multifunction switch?
On my 99 the emergency flasher switch is part of the multifunction switch, as its positioned atop & centered on the steering colum.
You say the left turn indicator lamp is out, so what does the right turn indicator lamp do when you activate the emergency flasher switch, or signal a right turn????
If I turn my right signal on, the dash indicator flashes and so does the exterior light. If I put my left signal on, the dash indicator does not flash but the exterior light does. When I turn on the hazards absolutely nothing happens.
My manual shows your 94 emergency flasher Switch is likely a seperate assy & is fused through #4 position, so pull & check that in cabin fuse panel 15 amp fuse. If blown the emergency flashers won't work.
So right now it seems if you replace the left turn indicator lamp as 87 XLT suggested & if the Hazzard switch #4 fuse is blown & its replaced, all might be put right???? Let us know what you find.
So I just finish replacing the multifunction switch and the hazards still don't work. My plan was to replace the dash indicator bulb also. But the dash indicator bulb isn't part of instrument panel. I couldn't figure out how to get to the bulb. DAMN! Looks like I might have to go to an electrical shop or the stealership.
OK good feedback on checking the emergency flasher #4 fuse, did you also check the hazzard flasher switch its wiring & connections to the switch, to determine if power is getting to it from the #4 fuse, then through the flasher switch contacts????
My repair manual indicates that the hazzard switch is a seperate item, so remove enough plastic trim to uncover it & use your multimeter on the 20vdc range to see if B+12vdc is making it to the switch from the #4 fuse on the R/W (Red insulation/White stripe) wire, then activate the switch & probe the output W/R (White insilation/Red stripe) lead, to see if power is making it through the hazzard switch.
If you don't have a multimeter, use a 12volt test lamp & probe the above contacts to a good clean ground connection like the metal body of the side of the cigar or 12volt power socket, or other unpainted non corroded metal body connection. If you have power to the hazzard switch the test lamp will light up.
I stopped past the dealership today, they are only showing a single flasher for my truck. Is your book showing the location of the flasher for the hazards?
