Yes that is nice, the stuff I plan on using is called Hardcast RTA-50 It's simple and easy to use. A little hard to find, but I just happen to have some.
Same exact concept as fiberglass but different material.
I was just out with a flashlight trying to get some PB on the nuts and I discovered that either my uncle or great uncle had, at one point in time, used some gnarly sealant on the drivers side nozzle/dash interface. so I might have to repair that one in place or just rip it out and start with a new one. Looks like I have to pull the glove box out, but hopefully not the heater box for the passenger side.
The worse damage you can do is break the metal mounting tabs from the vents like mine did. I plan on strengthening the vent first, and then will glass the mounting tabs 2nd.

Wow… Yea I have a buddy who stored his 68 Firebird out in the country last summer and came home with 30-40 mud wasp nests in the engine bay and under body. Fun times! :P
Actually, the mice had lived in the thing so long that I was trying to get some of the smell out! Never really cleared out untill I sprayed a water hose in the pocket up over top of the windsheild. That mud really holds the odors. There were also some hidden areas on the ledge behind all the dash *****.
Here's an example of the wiring since we are kind of off the subject of defrost ducts. The ducts were still there but kind of humble and full of bug mud.
Spur is that a 30 amp wrigley's wrapper? If you are going to us that charcoal as a source for heat you should add more ventilation. (would not want you to take permanent nap)
Happy new year!!

Why would anybody want to use charcoal for heat? I mean, c'mon, we all carry gas around. Put some on a rag, stick it on the dash, strike a match. If you do it right, you have defrost at the same time
Now this thread is getting exciting…. 30a fuse… More like 100amp! Also a great fix for Christmas light fuses that blow :P
I lucked out with only a light level of shenanigans with my truck. Driver and passenger vents were stuffed with old newspaper and tshirts (yea because that keeps moisture out!)
Personally, I find Reynolds Wrap to be the best for the old glass fuse systems. I'm upgrading to a new harness with the modern, blade fuses. These have the advantage of being able to use a piece of wire stripped at both ends. In a pinch, you can even use a metal coat hanger (don't ask how I know this).
