1979 f-250 loosing water fast
i have a 79 f-250 with a 460 engine. recently i went to replace the by pass hose for the water pump. in which i found out that the water pump and timing chain cover was also shot too. so now i have everything back together, and the truck is loosing water from where the timing chain cover meets the engine. honestly it looks like its leaking from everywhere by the actual water pump itself. i really do not know where i went wrong. so i am in need of help badly

On a 460 the timing cover is held on by several of the water pump bolts. So if you broke the seal between the cover and the block at all you would have needed to replace/reseal the cover and the pump. The you have a backing plate and gaskets. Plus the oil pan seals to the timing cover. I would keep an eye on the oil or change it once you get the leak fixed and avoid running it much until then.
