Hi guys my 79 ford has a what i think to be either a 429 or possibly a 460,i have no idea either way, it used to have a 351m but it has since been swapped, without getting the numbers off the block the only other id was on the front part of the right valve cover if your facing the engine.it reads as follows.

C 91592AB C 60
2 R 16
abcdefeghijklm S 14
123 7
1234567890

I have no idea what any of it means but if you can help please do thanks...mike

Well, Mil1ion can check that id decal but the only difference between a 429 and a 460 is the stroke, 3.59" vs 3.85". Might want to try that other engine forum.

If I am not mistaken, the "385" series 429/460 engines are identifiable by the wide, flat, level valve cover tops. At least that is what I tend to go by when at the salvage yard.... If you believe the engine to be along those lines, check with the folks on the associated forum.
