I talked to the guy that i got my rebuilt alternator from, he said the 165amps are not a direct swap, i didnt ask about the differences, but he said they would not work without modifacation.

They are a direct swap..................
Only difference would be they're internally regulated.
I got a used 165 amp alt for my 92 f350. I know I have to change the pulley to my 2v pulley but my connector that plugged into the old 100 amp alt is a 2 wire connector. The 165 amp alt had 3 wires plus the main power wire. Do I have to bypass my external voltage regulator? I think the 165 amp alt came off a 94 ambulance.
