going to bite the bullet

this is somthing i've been wanting to do someday and a failing hpop brought that day sooner, trucks goin to dieseltech down here so cal. going to do studs ,plugs ,cooler, (bpd) just don't want to miss anything, not intrested in huge H/p gains, some would be nice but not at the price of reliability, also your feelings on bpd oil cooler, and water pump, and aftermarket hpop, or did they upgrade the oem pump. the truck is 04 late 03 sept. engin build ,lots of work done in warranty,it tows 10k as much as i can (rv) just lookin to make it as trouble free as possible, it has now a, by pass oil filter, ficm by ed 40hp tune, exhaust, and guages, eot, ect, egt, trans, and boost, and blue spring, if there goin to get into it, don't want to miss anything, thanks for any advice, i'am open to anything, turbos, injectors, but like i said reliabilty is key, thanks guys

SO you have a Round EGR Cooler and those are TUFF Leave it or Deleate it

For the HPOP I would get the Diesel site one they sound like the issues have been taken care of
http://www.dieselsite.com/2003-20046...lpumphpop.aspx

For the Oil Cooler I like OEM

One thing the 6.0L Likes is Clean Fresh Oil

Peresonaly I don't like the BPD Air to Oil Coolers they leave ALOT of Dirty and Sheared Oil in the system each oil change. With the BPD setup you would have Approx 30 qts of Oil in there But you will only be able to drain around 15qts at oil change time so that leaves ALOT of Sheared and Dirty oil in there to cause trouble for Injectors and Engine parts and basically accelerates wear on this stuff.

SHure you could figure out a Way to modify the BPD Oil Cooler to get all the oil out but your oil change cost will Double Kinda pointless to spend that kinda money on something that needs Modified or IMO it does

The OEM Oil cooler works good just have to keep it from plugging so Flush the cooling system and add a Coolant filter

To add to your List I would figure in a High Output alternator with Wire upgrade

Your batteries and FICM will last longer

DC Power makes Good alternators

But they always back ordered and some of the guys here have found alternate solutions

I run a DC Power and it works Great Cold starts are smoother and the batteries get charged right back up fast

I like to delete the egr cooler just because soot reentering the engine gums up sensors and intake valves.

Blade, he has a bypass oil filter that should filter down to 2 microns. With that, I wouldn't be concerned with the bpd oil cooler ...... As long as there is enough room under the hood for all that crap.

Agreed, get ride of the egr cooler.

Great the extra filter Helps For sure

BUT the Oil Gets sheared thiner

This is just the way I see it none of us get all the Oil Out but the BPD setup leaves a lot old oil in there

The original poster may have to pass emissions, so keeping the EGR intact may be required.

You wont gain anything with a BPD Round EGR Cooler

the round Coolers are what BPD modeled there Square updated coolers around

But to each there own seems like your mind was already made up

If you had the Later style egr cooler I would be right with ya on the BPD EGR Cooler

Blade, true dat on the oil shearing.

2 microns is supposed to get most of the soot out.

So I got Curios and googled it LOL HAHAHA You guys know me Right!!

I wondered How much oil (The Rate) at which oil would flow thru a 1 micron filter I assume Not fast

Then I found a Air powered Centrifuge that spins it and Cleans the Oil I like it so Far

Check it out what you guys think??its Spendy at $$ 550.00 but looking at there samples this thing is Promising

Benny, that looks interesting. That's something I will have to ask a friend about that owns a trucking company. I think 40k is a stretch though even for a synthetic. I could see 10k easy enough.

I just read that 40K I don't buy that with this truck for the shear factor

But 10K should be easy

I thought it looked Cool

Those Color samples Looked Sweet where they did it for 1 Hour
