I've removed about 20 screws from around the console, but there must be some hidden screws, cuz the panel surrounding the radio and instrument panel wont budge. Any suggestions on where the hidden screws are?
go to your local parts store, and buy the Ford radio removal tools. they look like two small horseshoes with barbs on the end. find the holes located at each corner of the radio, and insert the tools. push in towards the center of the radio, once the barbs are in place, and pull out. if its the old old style radio, there is a screw on both sides that holds the bracket on..these are easily missed, not to mention a pain once you find them.
You have to remove the cupholder assembly, as well as the 2 screws angled up abaove the speedo cluster. then gently pull the panel to remove the clips. Put the key in turn it to the off position ,put in gear, and gently remove trim. Then cut the long bar out of a WIRE coat hanger into 2 pieces and bend them to make 2 "U" shaped pieces, insert them approximatly 1/2 inch into the holes on the radio, gently push them towards the middle of the radio, and pull at the same time. If done correctly the factory radio will slide right out.
