Ever since I bought my truck about 6months (99 psd cc lb 4x4) ago their has been an unusual knock in in the front left side of the vehicle. I can only hear it when I drive over small bumps such as a man whole covers in the middle of the road or even going over a speed bump at slow speeds. I went off roading this weekend and after we got back the noise was even louder and occured over smaller road bumps than before. The noise almost sounds like a pop instead of a knock.
I replaced the front shocks thingking it could be a dead spot in the shock but this didn't change anything.
In my humble uneducated opinion I think it could be the sway bar end link. If this sounds familiar to any one please point me in the right direction.
Thanx for your time in answering my hard to understand questions.
I had something similar to this on my 2000 and it was exactly where you are looking now, the sway bar ends. I had those replaced and it fixed the knocking in my truck. Hope that helps.
Its hard not to play the guessing game when nothing feels loose and even if I rock the truck back and forth I still cant hear the noise. Its just when you are driving and go over a small bump. Almost like a flutter.
If memory serves…. There is a TSB (Tech Service Bulletin) that has to do with replacing the cab mounts of the truck due to a knocking noise on the left side. I don’t know if the will prove to be a valid avenue to pursue I’m just typing out-loud…
