I think to do the factory setup would be quite expensive, I would probably look at some aftermarket setups first....

I would probably look at finding a donor truck vs buying new but I haven't really looked into either.

Any idea of any aftermarket companies that sell kits like that

I bought an 05 STX That didn't have it and I went back to the dealer and for around $80.00 they replaced the steering wheel and downloaded the program into the computer and in about twenty min. from the start I had CC, it's a matter of putting in the correct software.

I bought a 2012 350HD XL 4x4 auto standard cab In June and had the kits BigPipes35 mentions above installed by the dealer. it was $350.00 installed and is covered by the vehicle warranty. They do not have to replace the steering wheel - they just add the necessary switches.

It does sound like I got ripped off though - someone else got it installed and a new steering wheel for $80.00. Oh well - it's done now and it works and I am happy - just realize I was not as good a shopper as I should have been.

Do talk to Ford before going the after market route because in my 05 F150 STX it was a matter of replacing the steering wheel ( to get the controls) and a software installation, which actually took longer than changing out the steering wheel. As for the price, that came off the top of my head (it has been around 8 years since I did this) but if memory serves me the price I stated earlier is correct if not I believe it to be close. It was no where near $300 or what ever the other poster said the aftermarket system was and it was done with the existing wiring nothing was added except the wheel and software.......I watched the tech do it.

Keep in mind that was back in 05 or 06...

I checked the ford parts website last night and the steering wheel with speed control is $460. Ouch. Either way I'm going to call them. From their pictures though it looks like the non speed control and speed control wheels are the same just mine has filler panels where the buttons would go. Of that's the case then maybe I can just buy the buttons.

Could your steering wheel and the 05 STX be THAT much different? That seems like an exuberant price....jmho. Just for chits and giggles could you try pricing the STX style wheel and see what that would be? I HAVE been around for somewhat more than a half century so EVERYTHING seems like an exuberant price to me, lol but I can't believe these wheels have gone up that much in 8 years. I have been wracking my brain on this and I may be off by $100.00 on the total quote, it may have been $180.00 for the wheel and the software???but I do remember being pleasantly surprised that the bill was less than quoted and also at the simplicity of the overall installation. Hope this helps in some way.

The STX is a 150 correct? If so you have to add the needless superduty premium on parts. And the wheels are totally different but I'm not sure about the electronics
