Page zoom help

I seem to be having an issue with the page zoom function. I like to use the Ctrl + function a few clicks to make things easier on the eyes. Unfortunately when I do this on FTE, I'm forced to scroll side to side to read a post. This gets old and I lose interest rather quickly when forced to do this.

Currently running Firefox 25.0.1. Under the view menu, I have the zoom text only box checked. I believe this used to fix the issue, and I know it works for other web pages. FTE seems to be the one I have to scroll side to side on. Trying IE 11 does the same thing.

Anyone know how to fix this?

For some reason the pictures & vids here are giant sized , I gave up along time ago & re-sized the stupid screen . Its harder to read , but no side to side crap .

I have many issues here ,, I just read your post Chris , clicked back , ended up at the site look up page , rather than the general threads ,,,

Why is it I get the feeling this site is being optimized for the folks who use it from their cell phone?

Thanks for the input Rick. At least I know I'm not the only one fighting this.

Chris, I use Chrome and have it set to 175% zoom. That's my default for anything I see via Chrome on the 'net, not just for FTE.

It works ok until a supporting user attaches a picture in a thread. When that happens, my level of zoom makes the picture too large and I have to scroll from side to side.

This wasn't a problem in the past, but earlier this year FTE changed something with the image resizer function and now I have to do the side to side scroll whenever a picture is attached.

Is this the same problem you're having?

Stewart

i am running firefox 22.0 and get the same thing.
i do not know how to set zoom, but i would rather deal with the sliding the page side to side to read it than try to read the small type.

No. I did have that problem a year or two ago, but this is all the time. I had to scroll side to side to read your reply here.

I've been to another IB forum and it doesn't have this issue, so it seems to be unique to FTE from what I can tell.

I'm using the latest version of Firefox as well, and I don't have this problem here. When I zoom, everything still fits the page no matter how large I go. The only time I have to scroll side-to-side is with oversize images, as Stewart said.

ya know, i was just thinking. the only reason i need to scroll side to side is because i have the font size set at extra large, and the screen resolution set at 800X600 so i can see what is on the screen. if i change font size to large or normal and increase the resolution i no longer need to scroll side to side.

but then everything is so damn small i can not read it.

What version exactly are you using? Do you have a square or rectangular monitor? What is your screen resolution set to?

You're not using a phone or tablet are you?

Right this minute I am but normally, no. On my computer at home I'm running Firefox 25.0.1 which is the latest version, on an HP with win 7 and a 23" rectangular monitor, can't remember what resolution I have it set on but it's one of the highest, if not the highest. However, I also use my laptop a lot when I'm away from home and haven't noticed a problem with it either. But I'll fire it up later tonight and check it.

Got my laptop on right now, also running FF 25.0.1 with no problems. Set to 1280X800 on a Dell Inspiron 6000.

Thanks Dan. Wonder what the difference is. I tried 1280 x 768 and that didn't help. Optimized (max) is 1366 x 768 and there's no difference in the scrolling between them.

This is on my dell laptop. For some reason, it just doesn't like FTE.
