Interesting: Do you know where the 4th temperaturesensor is located physically and do the other three EGT sensors go above 1150degrees during Regen.
I don't monitor #3, but 2 & 4 both get up over 1200 and #2 sees 1300 at times. Since #3 is in between them, I'm going to assume that it is in that range as well. #1 is usually 600-700 degrees because the heat comes from the fuel burning in the DOC which is after #1.
As far as being a tuner goes, the CTS can be used to control Edge tuning devices, but as a stand alone product it can only read data from the OBDII port.
doesnt adding a tuner void warranty?...or am I completely wrong? lol
Simply, there is a different between a monitor and aprogrammer (Tuner), if the engine breaks Ford will most likely use the tuneragainst you if they can. In the manual ford states that modifications will voidthe warranty. Example: I was at a truck pull this spring and a vendor wasselling tuners, he had a 6.4L on a dyno producing 800 HP and over 1000 poundsTorque. Later that week I was at the Ford dealer and saw that truck up on ahoist, four of the pistons were a pile of crumbs. There is a video on You tube thatFord has seen, I leave it up to you if Ford should pay the $20,000 plus repair, owner thinks that Ford should pay because the engine didn’t break on the dyno,it blew up on the way home from the truck pull when in stock mode?

Thanks 720Deere: As you know I’ve been trying toverify and calibrate my monitor. I monitor #2 and set an high alarm (1150) totell me when I’m in Regen, monitor #1 to let me know when the turbo is cooleddown and #4 because it is the easiest to compare with a IR thermometer
I see, yes I understand that...imo these trucks aren't meant to be hot rods anyway. I have a 93 idi so my knowledge of all this electronically controlled stuff is pretty close to zero, isnt the main purpose of tuners in diesels to help with mpg/towing?

The main purpose of tuners on Diesels is to increase the size of the smile on the operators face - whether for towing, mileage or beating Chevys.
quick question, after the update i get a message at start up that "max PIDs selected, to find more unique PIDs remove alerts" press screen to continue. After I push the screen it loads as usual. I have removed all alerts but the low battery alert, it still gives this message, anyone else have this?
So I haven't did the update yet. But I have a question, currently I need to add DEF the truck says I have 270 miles to drive. For the last little bit I have been monitoring Urea Level on the CTS, when I started monitoring it it said I had 66% that was a couple hundred miles before I got the 500 miles to drive, it still says 66% ? The other night after I got the 500 miles to drive message I seen it flicker once to 33% and then it went back to 66%. Any not a big deal, just curious?

I don’t have a CTS. It is my understanding that the DEF tank has threelevel sensors in it. So I’m thinking that the truck’s computer and the CTSprocess this information is different. I’ve seen my truck count down the miles afterthe message or flicker a message just after filling the DEF tank. Just curious, this is not a linear way to measure a fluid level, does the CTS display 100%when full and count down 100,99,98..etc or 100%, 66%, 33%? This might makesense to me using the three sensor method. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I do know by Ford documentation that level sensor inputs are evaluatedby the ECU and take in account other inputs to determined the display message. For example the sensors can’t detect the DEF if it is frozen, which would meanthat the ECU has been programmed to detect that (DEF Tank Temperature Sensor). Idon’t know if the CTS monitor the levels the same way, but by your post Iassume not.
On mine when the truck first shows the DEF at "half full" it won't hold a 2.5 gal container. So when the truck says "half full" it must actually be at 66%. It doesn't really matter and now that it displays on the CTS I might just let it get to 33% before refilling.
Mine says 100% but I know it's less. Not sure why the reading is off?
That is because it doesn't have another sensor until it reaches 2/3 full so until then, it will read 100%. The DEF gauge system is wonky at best. I don't pay any attention to it until it starts telling me miles to empty. I'm never more than 800 miles from a DEF source so I don't worry about it. The longest trip I've taken with the truck was just over 900 miles one way. On the way down I noticed that one of the truck stops that I stopped at had DEF for a decent price and knew I would be stopping there on the way back. Sure enough the truck decided it was thirsty on the way home and I bought 2 jugs at the same stop. DEF is almost as easy to find as diesel fuel these days and I don't worry about finding fuel when I have several hundred miles left until empty.
I finally figured out yesterday that in the options menu "calibrate accelerometer" will zero the roll and pitch gauges no matter what position the CTS is mounted. Just for those who may be as slow as me!
