Hello my fellow 7.3 friends. Today its about freezing tempratures and its snowing. My low fuel light was on so i went to get fuel. Threw $50 in the tank giving me about a half tank alittle over. I kept going through town to burger king and proceeded my 5 minute drive home. When i got right up to the middle of the hill my truck dropped all RPMs and shut off. I coased back down and pulled over. I called for help where i got ride to Advance where i purchased a CPS and a fuel filter. Put the CPS in, Still no fire. Checked the fuel bowl, it was full of fuel, so i changed out the filter. I drained it with the little yellow lever on the back. Still no fire. Had my buddy in his Duramax come pull me home with a strap. (embarassing). On the tow i put it in 3rd and let the clutch out. It sounded minorly like the motor was running but RPMs showed on the gauge, and no response to me hitting the fuel pedal. So i got the truck home and plugged her in. Checked my fuel bowl again, minor fuel not full by any means. Now here i sit on my laptop asking for help. What is going on?!? Rifle season starts in a week!! I need this truck to make it to camp on Saturday, and i cant afford another round at the dealership! My truck is not showing any check engine light. The only reason i thought it was CPS is because 2 times last week when driving and coming to a stop my trucks idle jumped up and spiked only on 2 occasions so i thought i was fine. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or check or anything?? Confused and now emotionally damaged haha. Thanks guys.
I know you were in a pinch, but I would buy an OEM CPS. I once bought one from Autozone and it crapped out on me with the wipers running. I'm not saying that is the issue, but I thought I'd mention it.
Pull the electrical connection on your ICP sensor and see if your truck cranks. Also check to see if there is oil in the connection.
Lastly, check to make sure the nut on your IPR is still on tight, and has not backed itself off of the valve.
I check my truck. There is no Wait to Start light and my GPR LED does not light up. Im not sure if thats cause my truck was warm AND plugged in or not.
I checked the ICP sensor. It appears to have oil in the connector and with it UNplugged my truck still cranks over but no fire up.
I checked what i believe is the IPR (bottom and back of fuel bowl) it is tight as can be by touching it with fingers.
Also, im not sure if this is related. because it never caused a problem before, i had a Check engine light for my ICP and bought a new one from Riffraff Diesel, installed it and gave me an intermitten check engine light. Like... everytime i was on the pedal and pushing fuel it would turn on, and as soon as i let off the pedal it would shut off. It went on and off with my driving and noticed it was when i was on the pedal and not. if you get what im saying...
Having oil on the connection is not a good think and I expect your sensor is bad or is on its way out. I would replace it. How long has it been since you replaced the ICP? I would try to get your truck scanned. Next I'd be checking your IPR.
My ICP is less than a year old. Just put it in this summer. Do i need a special tool to scan my truck or will any regular auto code reader work? I do know to do that Ill need a new OBDII/Cig lighter fuse mine is blown. I went off almost the same picture to find my IPR mine is slightly more greasy/oily then this picture but i believe i was looking at the same thing.
I will read those links you sent me, i hope a blown fuse is the fix! Does it talk about fuses in those links? If not which ones should i be checking? Under the hood or by the kick panel. And what fuse?

You will need a scanner such as a Snap On or an AE, or similar. A typical scanner, like the ones used at Autozone, will not read our trucks.
I am fairly sure I unplugged the fuel bowl heater a long time ago when i did the air intake heater. But i will recheck.
Is there any reason i should be looking for as to why this fuse has blown?
I would assume the heater has shorted out and therefore blown the fuse. Just make sure the heater is unplugged before restarting. If your fuel bowl heater was already unplugged I'm not sure what would have made that fuse blow. Could have been a number of issues what ever that fuse operates I guess.
