Advice please.
I have a slew of questions but i'll keep this post to the necceties.
I have an '82 F-150 289 strait 6? Stick shift? Well its now a 302 auto from 84 bronco. I've been using it to plow my driveway for two years. Most of the emissions were ripped out. its hard to start when its cold, and won't start when its below about 20 degrees. at idle it has no power, it stalls just putting it in gear. but after driving a couple miles the stalling stops. I've checked for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner and starting fluid. but can't find any. there is a hissing under master cylinder. but the brakes feel normal. Can the booster be the culprit? how do i check it? Can the transmission cause a leak? it dosn't have any shifting problems. I don't know what else to check.
Does the carb have a choke on it? It is likely that the booster is rotted out or the seals may be gone. To check that, seal off the vacuum line to the booster with a pair of vise-grips, and see if the problem still exists. If the problem is gone, then go ahead and replace the booster and master.
