Spark Plug Blow Out

On Nov. 9th I was driving up Highway 1 heading to Fort Ross. The wife and I were camping at Bodega Bay and decided to finally (after 6 years of towing past) go check it out. Were were 2 minutes away from Fort Ross and number 7 decided to jump ship. I always carry extra plugs and coils but until now have never carried a tap/insert. Drove the truck up to Fort Ross and did the tour. Beautiful place!! I highly recommend going in and checking it out. After which we decided to look into fixing the truck. After several calls and prices from 7-9 hundred dollars we got a hold of Henry Curtis Ford in Petaluma. The service writer asked which plug is it? I hung up my phone (we were both calling around) and told the wife to tell him number seven. He said hold on. When he came back on the line he said he could guarentee it to be done that day. Saturday at noon and I was 1.5 hours from the dealer. He said worse case scenario it would be 525.00. We got the truck into the shop and within 30 minutes the tech had my truck running on all Ten!! I always do my own work but this was my vacation and I didn't have the right parts or a vacuum. Huge props to the 'Dealership' (not stealership) that saved the day for me. Rob was the tech who worked on it and Kevin was the phone guy! The whole team in the service dept. was involved and are super great people. They used my motorcraft plug and coil also with no questions. Great People!! By the by the tech said that he didn't use the ford part for the insert because he said they are junk. He didn't tell me what he did use either. He said it was running strange after the install and hooked his comp up and took it for a drive and when he came back he said the injector wasn't plugged all the way back in. Oops! Ziptie time. The clip broke when I unplugged it to drive with no plug. All in all it was 30 dollars in gas and 210 at the dealership and the no name coil and champion plug are now out. Guess I should change out the plugs in this thing now and make sure there are no more champions in there. I have owned this truck for 3500 miles so have only done radiator flush and oil change on it. It still has yet to turn 100k but is approaching it fast. It is a 2000 F-250 superduty king cab long bed. I love V-10's

Good to hear that there are still some honest dealerships out there, and glad it didn't ruin your vacation.

Definitely to hear a potentially uber-expensive repair work out so well---especially out of town like you were.

Might have just been a slow Saturday but no matter---still a great experience.

Maybe send the dealership's service or general manager a handwritten note too? Talk about a nice thing to receive, maybe make a few good days for everyone connected with this.

Thanks for sharing!

They did have a full shop but who knows which ones were actually being worked on. The hand written note is a great idea. I know I like getting them from my clients. It was sure awesome to have them ask which cylinder. That gave me instant confidence. As we all know, the cylinder number makes a huge difference. No one wants to tap number five in the vehicle!!!
