actually, any weather below 60 degrees stinks......oh well we haven't had much cold weather in years so I guess we are due. It was sleeting here today........just glad it won't last forever.
Boy I sure like the color choice also. Looks REAL close to the color I had my Thunderbird Supercoupe wheels painted for my 1/2 t-bird and 1/2 cougar car. I got it from a 2004 F150 Lightning I used to own. Dark Shadow Gray Clearcoat Metallic. Ford paint code CX.
Got the engine back together (mostly) and ready to go back in. Question: The Offenhauser intake takes a bigger thermostat than the original. I got two different gaskets in the box one is for original and the second is larger about 2.25" in diameter. Does anyone know what year thermostat I would need? I ordered from a 65 as the number was different but don't have a clue what size it is...yet.
Yesterday was the day. I had her ready but waited for my dad to come over and help me for the initial run. Was so nervous she wouldn't start.......I have done so many mods and know how it can go. Especially after I topped the radiator off and water gushed out of the water neck. I am still running the one from original '68 and it doesn't have recess for thermostat. Guess I will be buying one on Ebay. Anyhow, she cranked after about one revolution and oil pressure came up temp hovered at 180 after a few minutes of 2,000-2,000 rpms. Only other leak was a cold one when I checked late last night, I used a mini ratchet on bottom radiator hose and floor was clean this morning. Will change oil today and taker her out for a little spin. Still have the hood off as I want to spray that before I put it back on.....
Painted it this weekend. I love the color and think it turned out great. Still need to buff and put on mirros and side trim. Will spray in new bed liner soon
Yea thanks. I drove it around yesterday. Sure was nice turning heads at the traffic lights. The cam has great sound and with the exhaust it makes my blood run hot. With the new bigger steering wheel from Jeff it drives like a new dang truck. Time to begin work on mommas Stang.
