07 explorer tranny fluid

The transmissions your Explorer is considered a sealed transmission and does not have a fill tube. The family of 5-speed automatics they use in the Explorer/Mountaineer/Aviator, Lincoln LS, Thunderbird, and probably a few other models has not contained a fill tube since about 2000.
Instead there is a stand pipe/drain/fill plug combination in the transmission pan. The expected way to check the fluid level is to get the vehicle on a level hoist, remove the center portion of the combo plug, and if fluid comes out, it's either hot or overfull. If no fluid comes out, you can add fluid (using the appropriate adapter) then check to see if fluid trickles out. Once the fluid stops trickling out, you are full.

Yes it is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. You have to lay under your truck with it running, try not to burn yourself on the hot exhaust and hot trans fluid pouring out, try not to spill on yourself or ground.... just to check the fluid. STUPID!!!!
pretty much have to take it to a shop with a hoist to have the trans fluid checked - WOW.
