Bigger front tank?

I see a Spectra F45A 30 gallon front tank ecat listed for '97 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks. I also see Dorman offers the same tank in plastic under PN 576173. I believe 1/2 ton body style (and frame) changed in '97 but 3/4 and 1 ton stayed OBS through that year, don't know anythign about newer truck frames and tanks. If this tank was used on the last year of OBS trucks it should fit our trucks, is what I'm thinking. It's about 7" longer, 2.75" wider, 2.75" taller than the standard 19 gallon front tank. My truck is a CCLB so depending on where the added length is I doubt it will be a problem, height should be fine, I know drive shaft is tight but I think there's a few inches to spare. Has anyone tried either of these 30 gallon tanks on an 80-86 or 80-96?

I'm doing the F26E rear tank in my '86 and would like to swap to a bigger front tank as well if possible. I see some have used newer Superduty front tanks (about 38 gallon) but they do hang down quite a bit and aren't quite a perfect fit on the frame crossmembers. Hangs too low for the use my truck sees on occasion so that's a no go. If this tank is pretty much a bolt on deal I'd love to have 30 gallons in the front plus the 38 in back and not waste any bed space.

The 97 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks are the 97+ bodystyle. Will not fit, The shape is too different, and the fuel system is completely different.

Darn. Any options for a bigger front tank that doesn't hang below frame rails or at least not by much? I guess room could be made on passenger side across from the front tank, would just need to relocate exhaust outside the frame rail. I'm planning to use that space for an air tank though.
