I am looking to put an exhaust on my 98 5.4L. I want it to sound a little throaty but nothing to loud. Just a mild rumble when i step on it. Any suggestions on what i should get, pipe size, muffler type and if anyone knows any sites that have some nice exhaust tips please post that.
I want to have a 2 tipped pipe exiting in the stock spot not dual exhaust.
Thanks.
I have the Flowmaster Force II catback and I love it - it has a single 3" pipe. Make sure you disconnect the battery for 1/2 hour after installing the new exhaust to allow the computer to reset itself and compensate for the less restrictive setup.
BigMattXXL, I just put a Force II Catback on my Expy and love it. I disconnected the battery for thirty seconds and reset the computer (gages spiked). Do I need to disconnect it again for thirty minutes?
I put on a Gibson single side out system. It sounds good and really helps breathing. If your going to put on an exhuast, you might as well put on a new intake too....
After I installed my Gibson catback I emailed Gibson and asked them about resetting the computer and they said it was not neccessary. I wound up resetting it anyway after my intake mod, so I'm covered either way.
The mech for our fleet vehicles went to a Ford school and he recommends doing a reset each winter and summer. Something about moving around the perimeters of the computer, to allow for the temp change. He also recommends the reset for all mods or repairs.
