************Can't go wrong Donating thread (I think)

G oing in to this time of the year
I often find myself being in the giving spirit. I would
V enture in to thinking that most people would like to do the same. I'm thinking no one wants to give
E verything they have to charities but a small donation would be nice.

T ime and time again I try to encourage
O thers to share what little they have.

C ounting on contributions is all that most organizations have.
F lying in his big red Ford sleigh, I know even Santa stops and gives a little extra.
C opedawg is definitely giving this year, when he is not writing acrostics.

# of reasons to give.....
1 Donations are tax deductible
1 (I am not a good counter) Giving to charity may improve your sense of well-being
4 ( I think this was the 3 spot) Supporting a cause can help keep you informed about issues of social injustice
2 I forgot #2! Giving to charity out of spiritual conviction can strengthen your spiritual life.
5 I ended with 5! ( I started and finished on track)! Volunteering with a charity may result in physical and social benefits

Happy Holidays Everyone!

No, but a donating thread can GO wrong. As longs as we don't get solicitations for specific charities, we should be fine.

Remember giving doesn't have to be money. Many charitable organizations are only able to function through the good heart of boots-on-the-ground volunteers.

Good point thomabb! It can also be non perishable foods (old wax beans in the back of the pantry even) to any church or military (ACS) or even the homeless guy under the WhiteHurst Fwy downtown. All acts of goodness/kindess are welcome! Buy the coffee for the guy behind you at 7-11 or pay the toll for the guy behind you at the bridge/tunnel. It will come full circle eventually. It isn't gonna reserve a spot in heaven for ya but it can't hurt.
Thanks thomabb!

Charity is a good thing. What goes around comes around.
But I am not sure what you are asking in this thread.
Are you asking whom we donate to? Fat chance on me sharing most of that.
Or looking for a list of places to donate to? IDK

I really can't say anything else or the thread will get shut down for solicitation. Just think of it as some mad raving rant then. I will let it die in mid December, sorry I can't say any more

Trying to stay within the limits, here........

This time of the year, people are in need (just as with the rest of the year!)

'Tis the season, for a reason.

Giving is a part of humanity that really brightens the day, especially when you help someone that isn't looking for it.

Do something this year, to bring a smile to someone's face.
Hold a door open, for a woman.
Give a child something to make them smile.

Or, as my youngest son would say....... pass gas in a packed elevator, then blame it on someone else. You deserve a smile, too!!!!

Okay as for free what in the way of time or what ever have you done today,
or recently to express Christmas to others?

I helped a freind move and and brought them a load of fire wood. Than had them over
for Thanksgiving as they had no running water or gas for the cook stove yet.

Can we list thinks like this here to help others with inexpensive ideas for
Christmas? Is this in keeping with the thread?

I like it!
That was very nice! I cant imagine no water and no way to cook!

I received much needed help from my friend putting in new wood flooring in my house! Much appreciated!
I helped another buddy at with a drain problem that had been ongoing for years until it finally stopped up and didn't seep down at all for 3 days. The solution you ask? I put a schrader valve in a cap and stuck in on the "stink stack" on the roof. Capped the pipe at the P trap at kitchen sink. then pumped about 90psi of air and it finally blew out what ever it was. I thought it may blow the pipes apart in the wall but we got lucky.
