Whoa !!! Definitely allot more Tear Down, Looks like it coming along.... You know I would Love one day to do the same to my 58 F250... Just Tear it Down and frame off restore, Just so I can clean up every corner nut & bolt but it is timing and $$$$. I know you are doing all the work, but I'm Excited to see your truck in due time TRANSFORM little by little, I'm sure you are PUMPED UP !!!! It's gonna come out SWEET....
I have yet to see 24 mpg out of a 300, however, I regularly get 16 out of my swb stepside with the 300 .. It needs the carb to be tuned up. I dont see why it couldnt get 24 if you drove it an even 55mpg and you have the OD transmission. I have a true 3spd with OD. No granny gear.

Thanks! Yeah I have decided to go whole hawg on it and start from the ground up so to speak. I am really looking forward to the whole process and learning and doing as much as I can through out the entire project. I can always call the pros in here and there if I screw up and my skills come up lacking.

Yeah I am not sure what the particulars are with my trans and rear end ratios are, but unless 3rd is OD I don't have it. Seems like when I was a kid I got like 10 or 11 MPG but with gas under a dollar a gallon, who cared.
Not really that concerned about it now as it wont be driven for MPG but it would be nice for it not to be wasteful. Seems like they figured gas mileage coasting downhill with a tailwind though

So your on the right Track... Well how ever long it takes I subscribed to your Thread, Looking forward to seeing your truck through time come ALIVE... LOL... See you Later.
Got the rest of the front clip off and moved over to storage. Doing a little clean up and cataloging of parts, bolts, etc. Oh yeah I picked up a couple things from Harbor Freight.
Bump, Lovin' that you are including you little helper! Keep him included and envolved! My boy is now 21 and he grew up in the garage with me. BONUS... he now has a 2 year old daughter and just today he asked me if it was "safe" and "ok" to have her in the garage while he was working on his motorcycle. I said "Hell yah the garage is safe!" Got me another generation of Wrenchers!
COOL !!! Yeah Definitely include your Helper thier, My son is 8 yrs old and He helps me on my 58 F250 not only does he love working on it, it allows him to hang out with DAD which is very important. LOVE the NEW stuff, ain't it GREAT to get new stuff to help you on your Build ??? LOL... Coming along....
I was finally able to get back to work on the truck. I got the six out. Man did I forget how long that block was. I guess 18 years will do that. I honestly do t remember how dad and I got this thing back in when we rebuilt it before. I said a few choice words while trying to get my starter out from under those Headman Headers. I broke down and got out the "correctall" and hacked off the exhaust behind the collectors. I still hade to pull the engine and the headers out at the same time and ended up letting the concrete catch the starter.
A cursory inspection of the aftermath of engine removal showed everything covered in power steering fluid. I have been reading this forum long enough to know RedHead is where it's at so I am going to try to get in on the group buy coming up and save that for the rebuild process.
Next on to dismantling the interior and getting
I tried pushing some pics from my phone but no joy I will get some up after some sleep.
LOL..... I'm not sure how old you are but I'm 40 yrs old and I don't feel like I used too, and I've noticed when working on my 58 my PATIENCE Runs Thin.... not like before I had the Patience of a BULL... LOL.... Hang in their it will be worth it at the end. Do You Have Help like a friend or are you doing this on your own ???
