Problems after clutch replacement
Problems after clutch replacement
Hello,
Recently I replaced my original clutch in my 89' F150 4.9 T-18 4x4. After the very long process and replacing everything except for the external slave it seems to work great, but I have one annoying problem/question.
When I depress the clutch pedal from fully released to about 1" down I notice a squeak, similar to the sound a belt will make when engaging. When fully depressed the noise is gone. Also when the truck is warm, after being driven a few miles and the clutch is fully released I notice a slight squeaking, not like the first 1" of travel but a faint noise. This happens in all gears and when sitting in neutral.
My question is, does it sound like the external slave cylinder is not fully releasing the clutch fork and it is putting just enough pressure on my new throwout bearing to cause it to wear on the pressure plate fingers? Or, is it possible that the throwout bearing will make a little noise since everything is brand new and needs to get acclimated? I really hope it is the second, because I'd rather not tear it all apart again to inspect the throwout bearing and slave cylinders are not cheap.
Any suggestions are welcome and thank you for taking the time to read this. I love this board.
Joey
