Well, my engine went out a month or so ago and now I'm on the path of rebuilding it over the winter as a project. I've talked to a few engine component companies (Lunati, Comp, Crane, Summit, etc) with little help. Is it possible to "rollerize" an inline 6? It seems like you'd have to potluck the components from other engines to make it work. But, I'd like to know if anyone has heard of it being done or know where to get the parts. Also, is there any block work that needs to be done to do this? Some people I've talked to said yes, others, no. I just want some definitive answers instead of all the hearsay I've been surrounded by.
Also, does anyone know where or if there is a steel timing gear kit you can buy to replace the stock nylon (or whatever they are) timing set??
Not sure why you would rollerise a 4.9. They top out at 4500-5000 without some serious head work. Then you run the risk of the computer having a brain fart as a 94 is speed density.
As far as the cam gears go the Cloyes 81014 is about the best just be sure its installed correctly. See my thread in the 300 engine forum titled "Rebuilt and Noisy".
