I replaced my front axle u-joint now I'm having trouble getting the manual hub back on. Of course I tried to get it with a rubber mallet and I broke it. Its just the switch that turns that broke can I get that part or will i have to replace the hub? Also what am I missing why am I having such a hard time getting it on? Watched several videos and it should just slip right in
I don't think you can get just the switch but contact the hub manufacture and check. The only thing I can think of is that the axle shaft is not fully seated in the front differential for some reason, check the other side and see if it sticks out further on the problem side.
You mean the big one that goes inside the wheel barring assembly? I bought a new one but could not get it on it was too tight so I used the crappy old one. Do u think that's the problem? Is there a trick to getting that on? I was afraid of ruining it by forcing it

It is extremely tight and requires a specific tool to drive it on. That could certainly be the problem as there is nothing else to keep the axle shaft from going in all the way. Did you read the Link I gave you the other day about ball joint replacement ?
My phone wouldn't pull the page up. Do they rent this tool at parts store?
I doubt it but you could try, In that thread I linked you to it shows how to build the tool cheap which is what I did. If you were closer you could use mine. You really should read through that thread I think it would be quite helpful..
OK made myself one of those handy tools got her all together and figured out why I couldn't get the hub on. The splines on the axle were marred up from my hitting it so I took my cut off and very gently hit the inside of the grooves (tried file first couldn't get it enough). Slides right on now! Just waiting to get the new hub and I'll be able to try it out for sure. Thank you so much for all your help big pipes!
OK just one more question. Can I pull the end on/off **** off and put it on my old hub? A buddy of mine had one laying around and the one that's on my truck is much better condition but the end cap is broke
