That's really smart, there has to be a better (looking) way though...
There is no better looking way, but who looks at your mudflaps anyway? It was really worth to me because I live in snow country. Nerdy computer geeks look "not so handsome" too but they sure brought the computers a long way. The flaps actually look kinda cool to me but in a nerdy geek kind of way because I know they work.

Plus, I usually get more crap on the back of the running boards from the back tires, or enough snow that flaps wouldn't do any good no matter how big. Can't find a pic of the back of the boards as of now.
Ya know, suddenly being 80* today doesn't bother me so much
I like function...especially if form follows. Speaking of, I should invest in a different type of running board altogether. Yesterday, I almost tore off my passenger side running board trying to get unstuck from some DEEP clay! $1.25 at the car wash took car of that though. If I had a set that would let the mud/clay pass through, I wouldn't worry so much of it being there. If you have ever let clay harden on your truck, you know what a pain it is to remove and my running boards were loaded with it...not sure mud flaps would've helped. I imagine they would have torn holes in the fender wells.

Like this kinda DEEP?
No mud flap will help when the mud is folding the mirror in......
