Who has had experience with other than standard 12v sealed beam headlights that have found to be considerably better than old fashion 12v sealed beams?
I've converted mine to halogen. Haven't been on the road yet as it's a fairly lengthy project with a fair way to go, but I can tell you it sure lights up our driveway a lot better than the sealed beams.
Many of our club members are running the "euro" halogen headlights and are VERY pleased with how much better they work over the sealed beams. I bought mine at LMC, Truck Parts and Truck Accessories, but they are widely available these days from various vendors.
There are also LED bulbs as well if you handle the look. They will outdo any other bulb but are pretty expensive. Still requires upgraded wiring like other bulbs.

I did the same thing on my '50 F-2. They look great and with proper adjustment provide good visibility without blinding oncoming drivers. You will need a separate relay and harness else you may overheat the headlight switch.
I bought mine from LMC and when I did I went ahead and bought the wiring harness with the lights. Not to pricey as I recall, it came with the proper connectors for the back of the lamps as well as the relay and harness connector.
Old school 12v halogen sealed beams work remarkably well when given a full 12v. If you arent wiring savvy look into the available relay kits to supply the full 12v. Most older factory harnesses had voltage drop through the switches and wiring, mine light the road up just as well as my newer stuff with H4s.
The big thing with the kits is the beam spread. I'm sure over the years they've gotten a lot better but I bought some for my '60 elco in the 90's and they were more of a flood light not a beam. You could see a big difference in the spread pattern on the glass/plastic, the kit lens had hardly any lines. Everything I own now has halogen sealed beams and all work great.
The ultimate would be HID like high end European/Japanese car use, but the price tag matches the output since they require high voltage transformers to drive them.
Nathan, why does the pic you posted of the LED lights say "speaker" on it?
I put the Euro kit from LMC in Jon's 1950 f1 and they are awesome. The beam spread on low beam lets you see things in the ditch (aka---DEER) so much better.
Then when you nail the high beams you light up an entire foot ball field in front of your path.
Another Euro kit is already sitting on my shelf waiting to go on my truck.
