About a year ago I noticed the vault like doors on my '94 F150 were not sealing and seemed to have a jiggle in them as I drove. They used to close with authority but now they will jiggle as I drive. Today I got caught in a real 'gator gusher rainstorm here in Miami. I was on the expressway with about two inches of water on the road and it was coming down hard. I noticed a drip coming in from the door onto my arm. This is new. I opened and slammed the door and it didn't help. I have looked at the rubber seals and they look fresh, clean with no imperfections. I suspect the door has come out of place. How do I fix this? I also have noticed that this allows all my cold air from the ac to run out of the cab. I looked quickly at the Haynes manual and I cannot understand how they got screwdrivers back onto the hinges. Anyway please give me a few suggestions what I might be looking at here. Thanks!
Change the door striker pin/bolt. Look at the bolt that the door latch closes onto. It should have a Teflon or poly/plastic type bushing on it. If it's not there your door will not be closed tightly. They are available at most parts stores and only require a Torx screwdriver or socket the right size. I'm not sure but T45 may be it. Mark the position because it is adjustable rt/lt, up/down. If it's not adjusted properly, the bushing will wear quickly and the door may not close right. If the bushing is still on yours and shows no major signs of, open the door halfway and pick up on it to check the hinges. Sometimes the bushings wear there. I've changed them too but have better luck changing the entire hinge. They also have to be adjusted and it takes time to get them right.
