Air Filter questions............

Ok here it is....the old girl is running great again, Thanks to ED, anyway after replacing the filters, oil(motorcraft) fuel(motorcraft) and air (motorcraft) I have noticed that I need to reset the air filter several times.......mainly right after I burry the pedal in the carpet..........should I look into an aftermarket cold air intake?

and yes it did this before I changed the filters......

Thanks

Stock air filter is good for over 500 horsepower and 100,000 miles of use.

My suggestion is to make sure there isn't a blockage in the intake before the filter. You describe a situation that sounds like you have gotten something (road debris of some sort) stuck in the air path before the air filter. Or the filter minder is damaged and the spring in longer can hold.

Are you saying that you replaced the FILTER MINDER? When you say you reset the "filter" I believe you are talking about the little plastic cylinder that is attached to the air box, with the spring loaded sensor in it. Is this correct?

on the filter minder that is i was just in there again, almost seems like it doesnt get enough air through the wee little hole on the up stream side of the filter ............is there a way to "open" the cover as to get more air in? like drill holes in the face cover before the filter..........kinda like we used to do to motorcross bike AF ..........

I'm seeing that you have some tuning going on in you signature, so I suppose it's possible that you are demanding more flow than your stock filter can deliver..... Search for Zoodad mode. There are some good threads on it.
