Bought a truck from a guy the other day. Long story, but he was a con artist. Told me the battery was dead from cranking it, he couldn't hear the fuel pump so he thinks it needs a new one. ( insert evil laugh here ) got it home, checked fpdm, it was unplugged. Plugged it in fp running now. Charged battery. Cranks slowly won't start. Appears the engine has been changed. Have codes P0201-208, all injector codes. Cranking it over reminds me of an older distributor type engine that if off its timing. But also of cranking with a low battery. There's a new starter on it already. I'm going to pull the converter bolts on the weekend to see if they may have bound the torque when they installed the engine. Any ideas on the injector codes?
Found that the fuse panel was from an 05. Wasn't sending power to the injectors. Installed new fuse panel. Still seems to be off timing. Two dead plugs to replace tomorrow and doing a comp test. Maybe washed.
Ok 5.4 peeps. Here's the findings for today. Timing marks. Crank at 6:00, right cam at R^12:00 left cam R^ 1:00. Appears that the left cam is my culprit. Tomorrow I'm pulling the front cover and rechecking everything. Anyone got a comment on this one?
What a nightmare this beast has been. Only one power window works. All the motors and switches were shot. I keep getting an O2 sensor code, now I found out I have a cv shot.
