Driveability problem, stalling and flashing OD light

2004 EX, V10 2wd, this truck has been good to me but is acting up recently with 131,XXX miles.

Last week in a torrential downpour on my way home the truck shuttered and stalled at a stoplight. Hit the key and it restarted fine but the OD light was flashing. Merging on the highway it did seem to lurch a bit in OD like it wanted to downshift but didn't. Truck drove fine the remainder of the way home, blinking OD light went off within a few seconds of restarting.

Parked the truck, fired it up Saturday morning and all was normal since then until this morning where it did the same thing when I put the truck into reverse. Flashing OD light, stalled. Restarted it, check engine light came on but the truck drove perfectly normal.

I remember reading something about a wiring fix in the steering column and found the thread to fix it in teh tech folder, but I can't find a good thread to describe the actual symptoms of the problem. Is this what's going on with my truck or is it something more serious?? Hoping to get some direction and fix it this weekend.

This happened to me after I washed the engine one time. Turned out I got water under down one of the holes where the coil boot goes. Replaced the coil and all the spark plugs(they where due) , cleared codes and all was good.

When that light blinks you can get a code to pinpoint it. Rain can get in your plug holes also, I did a thread on how to fix where the water comes in.

If your OD light flashed then that means your truck stored a transmission error code that you can only read if you take it to a transmission shop or dealer who has the proper type of scanner. Your local parts store scanners are not going to read these codes. Before you do anything else or throw any parts at it, you should take it in an get it scanned for those stored codes. Post up what you find out.

Will do. Forgot to mention that the check engine light is now on constantly. Driveability is normal.

I do have a 5-star tuner for it, will that pull codes?

No, not transmission codes, IIRC.

I'm still willing to bet it's a water/COP issue. Orielly auto's scanner pulled trans codes on mine, along with the cylinder that had a missfire.

Yes your tuner will tell you the cause of the constant check engine light..

A performance tuner like the 5 star will not read diagnostic codes, you need an OBD2 code reader and they will read generic codes. You might need to goto a shop or dealer so they can read manufacturer specific codes on the transmission.

I got fed up with water getting on the engine so I got the hose out, closed the hood, sprayed towards the back, and then saw it dripping on the drivers side head so I looked into it and saw that the plastic was in 2 pieces under the rubber strip and water was going UNDER the strip and onto the left head, and into the plug holes.
