7.3 Weird ping noise from passenger side? please help
I just bought a 2002 f250 crew cab long bed 4x4 black lariat 6 speed. I have done ball joints, steering linkage, glow plugs, glow plug relay, starter, injector o rings, bellowed up pipes, rebuilt the turbo and replaced the squeaky serpantine belt. The truck has 179k on it and i just rebuilt the turbo and put on the up pipes last weekend, I have put so much money and time into this truck since i got it and now I can hear a fairly distinctive hollow sounding metallic ping on the passenger side. I eliminated all exhuast leaks when i put on bellowed up pipes and now can hear this weird sound only on passengers side though and as far as i can tell only at idle. Truck does not smoke and runs great and power is right where it should be( 4 inch turbo back, afe intake, and 50 hp easy edge) There is also what sounds like the slightest lope from the passenger side as well. Drivers side is noticably quieter and healthier sounding. My first guess is a bad injector? I hope thats all it is and not something major internally. Any input would be helpful. Thanks and i run diesel kleen

Uh-oh... you're one of those (like me). I hear the solenoids firing on the injectors while driving. There are noises on these trucks that will make you think she's gunna blow any second, but it will keep on going another 200K... and another.
That being said, it's always a good idea to investigate these noises. With your ambition, I'd pop the valve cover, inspect the connections on your wiring harness (they fail), and check your injector torque. Inspect your push rods while you're in there, make sure they spin straight. This is a good way to get familiar with your truck and catch uh-ohs early.
