Had another sorry experience with my Ford dealer today. Does anyone know where the temp sensor for the rear view mirror is located. My truck is a 2011 Ranger with the 4.0 liter, AC, automatic and 4x4. I think it is somewhere by the headlights but not sure. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the reply GaryF. You might be right. The tech at the Ford garage said the problem is probably the sensor but wouldn't or couldn't say where the sensor was. He then said the mirror wasn't made by Ford (Non of the auto-dimming mirrors installed by Ford are made by Ford) so it wasn't his problem. My mirror looks precisely like every other auto-dimming mirror I have ever seen in a Ford. My daughters Taurus has precisely the same mirror. And the install looks totally factory. It's only a mirror but it shows what you can expect from dealers and car companies now-a-daz. Maybe someone else will chime in. Thanks again.
87XLT thanks for the comeback. Yes the sensor I'm trying to figure out is the one for the outside air temp. By the time the service, no scratch that, the "No Service" department was done with me I was so PO'd I just left. I'm actually not even sure there is a separate sensor or if it's a part of the ECU or something. If I do figure out what the sensor is I will travel to a Ford dealer about 40 miles away just to avoid the creeps at the local dealer. Thanks again.
Edit: Actually 87XLT you brought up a good point. I'll call the other dealer tomorrow and see if they can tell me anything or have a part listing.
