somemore feedback carb ?

ok ive got an 86 f150 with a 300 in it,well whrn i got the truck,i found a tag on the bottem of the block so motor has been rebuilt, only has around 1k on it,anyway my exhaust was glowing red so i gutted the cat (what was left of it,only a few pieces) and still nothing,so i then was told that the flap in the manifold was sticking so being my self i ripped it off ever since that the thing dont start up right, wont idle as it should etc,ive cleaned the carb twice and nothing well im now reading up on this feedback setup, before i ripped the flap off and the map sensor this truk would start right upo fast idle worked ran perfect,so i need some help here either hooking this backm up or just doing the duraspark2 conversion,id like to first try hooking everything back up,so i need a good diagram(the core support i changed out so the stickers long gone

You "ripped it off" now there's a problem? Rip it back on!

I don't understand the fascination with "ripping things apart" without the slightest clue as to what it did or what will happen once it's gone...

the only thing i ripped off was the heat control valve and took the map off, which it wasnt hooked up anyway just a line hanging there,i no all about the feebback systenm after reading up on it a little, some one got to it before i did and unplugged everything, truck runs good once you get it warmed up,it used to start right up but would fast idle like it should,i have 7 bulkl noses but only two of them are 300s,the other one has the duraspark conversion already,id like to buy a new heat control valve(spring type)and hook up everything as it should be,but i think it may be too far gone,is it possible to hook my msd 6a box to the current tfi dizzy? i no i should be able to do this but want to make sure first, basicly just unhook the computer and use the msd box for the timing and throw another pre feedback carb on rather than do the duraspark because i have the spare msd box here

You will need to do the duraspark distributor conversion because there is nothing on your engine to advance the timing. There is nothing in your distributor you have now but a little wheel to trigger the TFI module and to tell the computer where the engine is at. The duraspark has weights inside that advance the timing according to rpm, and has a vacuum advance to advance or retard the timing according to the load on the engine. The plate that holds the pickup moves to vary the timing. The plate in the dist you have now is locked in place.
