Good thing I didn't put any oil in there, i can pull the carrier, not very easily, and swap the ring gears.

I had to pry and beat on the carrier for 30 mins to get it out. what a pain. took a 5 foot long 2x4 i cut in a shape to wedge into the carrier to get leverage.

The axle in there is a low mileage axle.

Bill, we talked about this on the phone.

I know you'd come help.

Besides, you cannot bitch at me for that. I tried to help you with your other truck.

I just get pissy about people helping me (it's not you guys).
People want my help everywhere all the time and I help, but as soon as I need help, i'm relying on mostly myself.

Luckily my aunt has been able to take me to the parts store a few times.

It's kinda funny how I'm in an area with high population and everything is a pain in the ***, but if I was in an area like bills or my dads, i'd have no problem getting this done with ease.

(Besides the fact my tools are there)

Actually wouldn't be bad if you WERE here even just sitting around to keep me company.

That's all I really ever want for help, is somebody to occasionally grab a wrench and keep my sanity. I start talking to the parts and tools and ****.

That spindle was loose on that anyways. It's better the way I went. I just wish I could have done all new bearings.

I got really lucky on the pinion because my crush sleeve was larger, so I was able to get some crush on it and set the drag.

Backlash, by feel, is right as well.
The 10.25 has a big backlash actually.

Got the diff filled up, overfilled it a bit seeing as the axles were drained too.

I lost a bunch somewhere, i'm not sure where.

I put 1.5 qt's in it and almost everything that came out. Crazy ****.

Did you check the wear pattern after swapping gears?

Not with paint.

The ring gear was dry when I put it in, so I looked at the oil marks when I turned it over to see if it was smooth.

It's hard to do repairs like this with such limited tools.

I had no way to pull the bearing on the pinions to swap the shims, but the bearings matched up pretty close side by side.

I know enough about them to get in trouble.

And I did.

What I did had a chance to work or not work...

and I have metal shavings in the pumpkin.

Gotta wait on the guy I bought the axle from to bring me a different one.
